Wendy Cookson joined the Bede’s board of trustees six years ago. She has been Chair for the last four, through an unusually challenging period, steering us through exceptional times – especially as we swiftly introduced innovative ways to continue serving our community during the Covid pandemic. We are sorry that Wendy has chosen to step down as Chair at the AGM this November. We will miss her great expertise, warmth and enthusiasm, and thank her for her unstinting dedication to Bede over the last few years.

We are however pleased to announce that Wendy will be handing over to Jerry Flechais, as the new Chair of Bede. Jerry is a safety and risk management professional working at a senior level in the commercial, public and third sector, and an experienced charity trustee. He brings deep knowledge of risk management, governance and operational delivery to the charity.

We are also welcoming four further new trustees to Bede: Charlotte Dick; Simone Eseanobi; Eleanor Rowland and Diana Stevenson. Together, they bring huge expertise to our board, in patient safety, social work and safeguarding across a wide range of roles. We will introduce all of our new trustees in more depth over the next few weeks, and are really looking forward to working with them all over the next exciting phase of Bede’s work in the local community.
