Why not take the opportunity to fundraise for Bede – and get fit! We’ve some interesting events to get you started:
TCS London Marathon
We’d love you to run for Bede in the TCS London Marathon (Classic), who took over from Virgin earlier this year, or TCS Virtual London Marathon. Imagine the feeling of exhilaration as you complete the course and support our community!
London Marathon 2022
The Marathon takes place on Sunday 2nd October. If you have a ballot place but don’t have a charity to run for, why not choose Bede? We will support you with your fundraising and, in addition to what the event organisers give you, we will also give you a goody bag for running for us.
Virtual London Marathon 2022
Bede has 3 available places in the Virtual Marathon. The ‘Virtual’ Marathon, introduced during the lockdown, is run the same time and day as the Classic or mass event, the only difference is that runners choose their own route for undertaking the 26.2 miles.
Bede will give you a goody bag and TCS will give you a finishers medal and a souvenir T-shirt for participating! They will also provide an app where you can record your stats, track other runners and listen to inspiring music!

London Marathon 2023
As we look to a brighter future, we have racing driver Harry Tincknell running for us.
Harry is a member of the Ford Chip Ganassi Racing team and has won a World Endurance Championship.
London Marathon 2021
The London Marathon marked its return on Sunday 3rd October 2021, after last being held in April 2019 due to Covid-19 restrictions. The We Run Together campaign had more than 40,000 participants joining elite and 40,000 virtual runners, in an event that would, ‘celebrate this landmark day and the joy it will bring to many thousands of people after 18 months of uncertainty living through the pandemic’ (Virgin Money London Marathon)
This year Bede had a bumper crop of fundraisers running the Marathon . Ryan Pearce, whose father Mick is a support worker in our Learning Disabilities service and John McEwan from Civil Engineering and Groundworks Company, Galldris joined Martin Donnelly and Jake Galea from Media and Planning agency december19. They were racing for us alongside their colleague, Dave Barnett who was fundraising for another local charity, Time and Talents.
To find out more about why Ryan, John, Martin and Jake ran for Bede, please visit our Bede News and Events page.
Other sporting events
Or perhaps you plan to take part in a different race or sporting event? Don’t hesitate to let us know. Bede will support you all the way. Let us:
- promote your fundraising story through our Friends of Bede network
- provide a Bede T-shirt for your run
- award you with a goody bag in recognition of your achievement
We’ll help you to stay in shape while you help Southwark people in need.
SHARE YOUR IDEAS
We’re ready to chat through any fund-raising concepts with you. During lockdown Strictly singer Hayley Sanderson and Bede domestic abuse survivors sang a cover of Britney Spears’ ‘Stronger’. Recorded at home on their phones, it raised invaluable donations for both Bede and Women’s Aid.
Whether you’re up for a challenge or have a special talent that could grab attention, just let us know and we’ll do our best to make it happen.
If you have any questions or would just like to talk to us, please contact Gwen Green.
