Lampros Siolos, the Greek firefighter, not only took on the challenge of running this year’s London Marathon, but also did so in the heat, managing to clock up a creditable time of 02:59:03! Even more impressively, he achieved his goal of getting his Six Star Finisher Medal. This is awarded to runners who complete the world’s original six major marathons in Tokyo, Boston, Berlin, Chicago, New York and London. Lampros is one of just 20,000 people world-wide to do this.

Lampros took time out of his busy schedule to come to Bede the day after the race, where he showed staff and delighted clients his medals, before returning to Greece the following day.

Ahead of the race, clients from our Learning Disabilities service created a colourful card for Lampros, thanking him for taking part in the endurance race. A picture of the giant card was sent to Lampros and he responded, “What a great photo!!! It really means a lot to me. Thank you.”

Congratulations and many thanks go to Lampros. There is still time to make a donation in recognition of Lampros’ fantastic achievement, and to make a huge difference to Bede’s work in the community: https://www.justgiving.com/page/lampros-siolos-1
