England Lionesses and Chelsea Football Club Women star, Fran Kirby, currently playing in the 2022 Women’s’ Euros, is the star of a mural on Bermondsey’s Kirby Estate just down the road from Bede. This is the brainchild of estate resident Chris, who approached Street Artists MurWalls, to do the work which has caught the attention of local and national media.

The mural appeared overnight, just like the hundreds of flags put up for the England football team by the estate’s Flag Ninjas, ahead of Euro 2022!

Besides the image showing the estate’s support for Fran and something to help brighten it up, Chris invited Bede House to view it as some of their residents use our services. Chris thought the image could be used as a fundraising opportunity for us. Fran will do an official unveiling of the mural, once the Euros are over.

Anyone who wants to have their picture taken alongside the mural, will be encouraged to donate whatever they can, which will come to Bede.

This is an ingenious fundraising event and our thanks and appreciation go to Chris, the Kirby Estate residents, MurWalls and Fran Kirby with best wishes for the Euro finals!
