We have two entries in the London Marathon next year: Joe Comer and Tara Murphy. Over a series of blogs, they will be telling us about their experiences in preparing for race day in April.
First, a word from Joe…
So, it’s official – I’m running the London Marathon for Bede. Having said to people I’ll do it for the past 2 years, it’s time for me to put my money where my mouth is! Honestly, at this moment there is a tinge of regret in opening it in the first place!
Joking aside, I’m proud to be running for Bede.
For those who don’t know me, I’m a Support Worker in the Learning Disabilities project so I see, every day, the vital contribution Bede makes to the lives of so many vulnerable people. I’ll be thinking of them as I’m dragging myself through the training and when I’m bouncing my way through the marathon next April (hopefully).

It’s been a while since I last ran long distances, I’m hoping my body can still hack it without needing to spend too much time with the physio. The last few months I’ve been trying to build my fitness back up by going on increasingly long runs, I’m now up to 8ks – only 34kms of a full marathon… I’ll have just started my marathon training in earnest when this goes out so wish me luck!
Between now and April, I’ll be sharing updates on how the training and fundraising is going.
Thank you to everyone who follows the journey, shares the fundraising page or makes a donation. Your support will make a real difference!
