Last week saw 2 great fundraising events for Bede starting with a glorious afternoon at Lambeth Palace Gardens last Friday (1 September). Thanks to the large number of people who attended, a fantastic amount of funds was raised for Bede’s vital work in Southwark. They also contributed to making it very a special day in Bede’s 79th year. We’d like to take this opportunity to thank photographer Kevin Ireland and the staff and volunteers at Lambeth Palace Gardens, especially Trisha Shannon, their Events & Tours Manager, for helping to make last Friday such a special day!
On Sunday 3rd September the Grosvenor Fair took place, this year at Compass School, Bermondsey.
There was a good turn out and although it got a little damp later on in the day, people’s enthusiasm didn’t! Besides fairground rides and games, food and drink stalls and a petting zoo, there were live performances including one from our very own Youth worker, Yusuf Karga aka YazStar. A surprise performance also came from local fishmonger Russell Dryden (Bastru) who can certainly hold a tune!
Thanks to everyone that supported us on the day including Kate Nottidge and her colleagues from Grosvenor, Compass School, Big Local, the entertainers and stall holders and everyone that came along to enjoy the day. Proceeds from the entertainment are going to Bede’s Starfish, Domestic Violence project.
