Luke Holmes from Bede, won Young Volunteer of the Year at Community Southwark’s 2017, Southwark Stars award ceremony on 2nd May.
The event, held at Tate Exchange – Tate Modern, recognised organisations and volunteers who have contributed over 100 hours or more volunteering over the last year. Among the many award categories, were the prestigious Volunteer of the year, Trustee of the year, Charity of the year and Best Corporate/charity of the year.
Luke, who uses its Learning Disabilities project, does a number of volunteering roles with Bede ranging from gardening, DIY, window cleaning and its new Helping Hound scheme, walking dogs especially to visit older people who might not be able to keep pets themselves, but love their company. Luke is an inspiration.
